ANTELOPE WORLD
Antelope are even-toed ungulate species found mostly throughout Africa and some in Eurasia. Antelopes members of the Bovidae family, which also includes cattle, sheep, buffalo, bison, and goats. There are around 30 genera and over 90 species of antelope known in the world.
The word antelope has its origin in the Byzantine Greek word anthólopsa. This word was used to describe a fabled animal with long, saw-like horns that haunted the banks of the Euphrates River. This anthólopsa was very savage, very hard to catch and could cut down trees with its horns.
Antelope World will take a look at each of these antelope species.
